Consulate-General of Japan in Houston

On April 20th, Consul-General Osawa attended the “2009 Sun & Star Legacy Award Dinner and Silent Auction” hosted by the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth in Dallas, Texas. At this award dinner, Mr. Ryozo Kato, Commissioner of Nippon Professional Baseball, who served in the U.S. as Ambassador of Japan from 2001 to 2008, received the “Sun & Star Legacy Award,” and Mrs. Naoko Shirane, Senior Advisor to the State of Texas, received the “Bridges-to-Friendship Award.” In his toast remarks, Consul-General Osawa expressed his gratitude to Commissioner Kato and Mrs. Shirane for their longstanding contributions to strengthening Japan-U.S. relations and wishes for their further success. Mr. J. Tom Schieffer, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, and Mrs. Schieffer also attended the award dinner. In a friendly atmosphere, the participants exchanged their views with each other on further strengthening Japan-U.S. relations.
