Title: Political and Economic Affairs Analyst
Salary: Commensurate with experience

(Extra work for special events and receptions may be required on some evenings and weekends)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
○To set appointments / arrange meetings for diplomatic officials
○To assist with the hosting and participation of various events
(Please be noted that (1) this includes but is not limited to, coordinating a business lunch or dinner, preparing invitation and name cards as well as lists of guests invited to Consulate-General’s receptions, working as an assistant staffer at political, economic and PR/ cultural events held outside the Consulate, taking notes during conferences or panel discussions, in close cooperation with the secretary to the Consul-General, and that (2) instructions to assist with events and projects that do not directly fall under the responsibility of the political / economic section but other sections may be given, if such events and projects carry significant importance to the functions of the Consulate-General as a whole. )
○To write documents including speeches and formal letters for diplomatic officials
○To proofread and translate documents
○To research and analyze political and economic issues in the States of Texas and Oklahoma, as per instructions from diplomatic officials.
○To collect latest data on politics and economy, as per instructions from diplomatic officials
○To prepare weekly news reports summarizing relevant, regional, national and Japan-related news articles in a manner specified by diplomats.
○Research topics of interest to the Japanese
○Assist other sections of the Consulate as required
○Other administrative duties and assisting the diplomats with day-to-day tasks
○Proof of legal status to work in the U.S.
○College degree in a related field
○Native-level English ability
○Strong understanding of US politics and economics, and U.S-Japan relations
○Strong organizational and communication skills
○Strong sense of teamwork and cooperation
○Strong computer skills
○Japanese language skills/fluency preferred but not required
