December 1, 2011Consul-General’s Commendation of Mr. Terunobu NakaiOn December 1st, 2011 in recognition of his dedication to the betterment of Houston’s Hermann Park Japanese Garden, Consul-General Yamamoto announced the commendation of Mr. Terunobu Nakai. Over the past five years, Mr. Nakai, a renowned Japanese landscape architect, has traveled from Japan to Houston to share his skill, his knowledge, and his passion in exhaustive efforts to improve the Japanese garden. Mr. Nakai personally selected the plants and stonework, oversaw the renovation of the garden extension, and provided guidance and instruction to local gardeners. In further recognition of Mr. Nakai’s achievements, Houston Mayor Annise Parker declared October 27, 2011 to be Terunobu Nakai Day. |
