The students from Iwate Tono Ryokuho High School visited James Madison High School in San Antonio from January 12 to 15, 2013.
The Japanese students stayed with families of the students who take Japanese at James Madison High School. They participated in the New Year’s Party organized by the Japan America Society of San Antonio on January 12 and gave a presentation on their experiences after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
Some students of James Madison High School also visited Tohoku area to see the situation on the Kizuna Project in the summer 2012. Japanese and American students exchanged their experiences and what they felt there throughout their stay. They also visited San Antonio local attractions such as the Alamo and River Walks to experience the local culture.
