March 11, 2013Quilt Works of the late Yukiko Hirano are on the exhibit at the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, Texas.The annual Convention of International Quilt Association in Houston is one of the world biggest events for quilters, attracting a number of participants and visitors from Japan & many other countries. The Association’s Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, which opened in November 2011, is now displaying the quilt works of the late Yukiko Hirano, Japanese lady who was awarded in the convention of 2005. She left the will to gift her quilt works to the International Quilt Association, and the presentation ceremony was held in June 2011 at the residence of the Consul-General of Japan in Houston. In the Museum, masterpieces of many other quilters from many nations are also on exhibit. Consul-General & Mrs. Jota Yamamoto visited the Museum on March 9, 2013 and appreciated Ms. Karey Bresenhan and other members of the Association for their dedication to cross-cultural exchange through quilting. They agreed upon further strengthening of ties between the Consulate and the Museum.
