The Ikebana International Houston Chapter has a history of 55 years as a traditional cultural organization. On April 2nd, in collaboration with the Houston Chapter, the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston held a demonstration at Consul-General’s official residence to encourage international exchange through the art of ikebana.
Around 50 members and guests attended the meeting. Ikebana arrangements created by members were on display and Mrs. Etsuko Yamamoto, wife of Consul-General, gave an ikebana demonstration. The demonstration was followed by a koto performance by Mrs. Michiko Gardner and several traditional Japanese dances performed by members of Showing Japan. Through the demonstration and performances, attendees had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese traditional arts.
