On Thursday, October 17th, Consul-General Nozomu Takaoka attended the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas (TMMTX) 10 year anniversary ceremony in San Antonio. The event celebrated a decade of partnership and teamwork at the San Antonio plant, and also marked the plant's achievement of producing 1 millionth truck, a milestone reached a few weeks earlier.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of three U.S dignitaries; San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, and Texas House Speaker Joe Strauss. Governor Rick Perry also sent a video message congratulating the Toyota plant's achievements and the company's solid partnership with the state of Texas.
During the ceremony, five team members who represent different shops of TMMTX were spotlighted with a ride in the 1 millionth truck, which was a redesigned 2014 Tundra. One member also delivered a moving personal story at TMMTX. The ceremony ended with generous donation from TMMTX of ten trucks to ten local non-profit organizations. |
