On Thursday, November 7, the Japan-America Society of San Antonio (JASSA) hosted a welcome reception for Consul-General of Japan and Mrs. Nozomu Takaoka at the house of Ms. Mimi Yu, President of JASSA. In attendance were JASSA President Mimi Yu and her spouse Dr. John Frederick, JASSA President elect Dr. Makiko Fukuda, former JASSA President Rosemary Kowalski and many other society board members and JASSA members who gathered to welcome Consul-General Takaoka and his wife to San Antonio.
During the reception, Consul-General Takaoka expressed his gratitude for JASSA’s warm hospitality and praised the society for their achievements and their role of leadership in promoting the U.S.-Japan relations for almost 28 years. Consul-General Takaoka also spoke of the increasing interest that Japan has in the economy of the State of Texas including San Antonio. He expressed his wish to work together with leaders of the JASSA to further the exchange between the U.S. and Japan.
At the end of the reception, JASSA President Mimi Yu presented Consul-General and Mrs. Takaoka with a San Antonio gift to commemorate the occasion
