The Chiba City Council Members visited the Shintech factory in Freeport (April 15, 2014)

Three Chiba City Council Members, Hon. Hiroaki Kawamura, Hon. Toshiyuki Ogawa and Hon. Satoshi Abe, and Consul General Takaoka visited the Shintech factory in Freeport on Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

Shintech was founded in 1974 to produce polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin. In 1976, the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. The success story of Shintech lies in two aspects. Firstly the company has completed a series of production capacity expansions that combined aggressive domestic and export business plans with careful analysis of market conditions and customer needs. Secondly its expanded factory runs at full capacity and sells its product without overstock. Shintech is the largest producer of PVC in the world. PVC is a general-use resin that has wide applications in goods used in daily life and in all kinds of industrial materials. The company generates approximately 650 jobs in Texas.
