On May 23, Consul-General Takaoka met with Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee at the unveiling ceremony for the “Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King” at Memorial Plaza. He thanked the Honorable Congresswoman for her participation in the U.S.-Japan Caucus and her interest in promoting the US-Japan relationship and updated her on the current bilateral situation. They exchanged views on the relationship between Japan and Houston including the Texas High Speed Rail Project between Houston and Dallas.
