On  May 27, Consul-General Takaoka made a courtesy call on The Honorable Rick  Perry, Governor of the State of Texas in the Texas State Capitol.  Consul-General thanked Governor Perry for his initiative to maintain a strong  business environment in the state.  He  also updated him on the three recent major developments between Japan and Texas,  the Toyota headquarters relocation to Plano near Dallas, LNG export projects  led by Japanese companies, and the proposed Texas High Speed Rail Project.  Governor Perry expressed his wish for further promotion of the friendly  relations between Japan and Texas.   
          On  the same day, Consul-General Takaoka met The Honorable Nandita Berry, Secretary  of State and exchanged views on the activities of Japanese companies in Texas and  their requests. Separately, Consul-General attended the meeting with representatives  from Japan related organizations (The Japan-America Society of Greater Austin,  The Austin Japanese Businessmen Association, and The Austin Japanese School).  
          On  May 28, Consul-General Takaoka met with Mr. Edward Houghton, Chair of the Texas  Transportation Commission and Mr. Victor Vandergriff, Commissioner of the Texas  Transportation Commission, and afterwards met with Mr. Joe Weber, Executive  Director of the Texas Transportation Department. Mr. Robert Eckels, President  of Texas Central Railway (TCR) and Mr. Travis Kelly, Vice President of TCR were  also present at both meetings.
