On August 14, the Texas Rangers hosted the Japan America Friendship Night at the ballpark in Dallas. Before the game, 9 Japanese high school students coming from Nagaoka city under the sister city exchange program joined a flag ceremony and Consul-General Takaoka threw the first pitch, receiving great cheers from the crowd. This event, now in its 3rd year, is held every year in Dallas to celebrate the friendship between Japan and the US through baseball and this year the Honorable Thomas Schieffer, Former President of Texas Rangers and Former US Ambassador to Japan, the Honorable Harry LaRosiliere, Plano Mayor, the Honorable Maher Maso, Frisco Mayor, and others joined the event.
