On August 22, Honorable Midori Matsushima, Member of the House of Councilors, visited the MD Anderson Cancer Center and took a tour of the Proton Therapy Center and other facilities.
She discussed the international medical zone, which will be constructed after West Futenma Housing Area at the US base in Ginowan City is returned to Japan, and the Okinawa Health Medical Innovation Center of the zone. She and Consul General Takaoka exchanged views with executives such as Dr. Ethan Dmitrovsky, Provost & Executive Vice President regarding the possible cooperation between the zone and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
She also met with representatives of the Okinawa Association of Houston, the Okinawa Cultural Association of Texas, and the MD Anderson Cancer Center at the official residence in Houston.
