Dinner party to Celebrate the Opening of “For a New World to Come: Experiments in Japanese Art and Photography, 1968–1979” organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (March 7, 2015)

On March 7, Consul General Takaoka hosted a dinner party at the residence to celebrate the opening of “For a New World to Come: Experiments in Japanese Art and Photography, 1968–1979” with the present of artists present at the party, Ms. Kunie Sugiura and Mr. Keiji Uematsu, who joined from Japan. Consul General Takaoka expressed his gratitude to donators, supporters and museum representatives for their contribution in promoting Japanese arts in Houston. He also thanked and praised the works which captured the reality and spirit of the moment in the 60’s and 70’s (link).

This exhibition explores the experiments in Japanese photography in the late 60’s and early 70’s through some 250 works by 20 Japanese artist. Mr. Daido Moriyama and Mr. Keiji Uematsu visited Houston for the opening ceremony on the same day and gave a lecture on the contribution of photography in the formation of contemporary art in Japan. The exhibition will be held until July 12 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
