On March 17, Consul General Takaoka delivered a lecture attended at the Asia Institute of the University of Texas, San Antonio. In the reception prior to the lecture, City Councilman Ron Nierenberg gave his remarks to welcome Consul General Takaoka’s revisit to San Antonio, and the Director of Asia Institute Wanxiang Yao served as a Master of Ceremony. Consul General Takaoka spoke about Japan's economic situation and security policy, Japan's relationship with Texas, and answered questions from the audience. University staff including Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs John Frederick and Vice Director of Asia Institute Mimi Yu, students, city officials, members of the Self-Defense Forces who are in training at the Defense Language Institute at Lackland base were among 80 participants. |
