Consul General Takaoka held a reception to recognize the US delegation under TOMODACHI-Mitsui & Co. Leadership Program (May 29, 2015)

On May 29th, Consul General Takaoka held a reception at the University of Saint Thomas to recognize the US delegation under TOMODACHI-Mitsui & Co. Leadership Program which is administered by the US-Japan Council in cooperation with Mitsui & Co.

10 delegates selected from the US and Japan will visit each country under this program in order to grow the next generation of American and Japanese young leaders who can contribute to the Japan-US relationship. The US delegation will visit Japan from July 3rd to 11th.

In his remarks, Consul General Takaoka welcomed the delegation as leaders who take charge of the future of the Japan-US relationship and praised the initiatives of the US-Japan Council and Mitsui & Co. (link). Then, Ms. Irene Hirano Inouye, President of the US-Japan Council, hoped in her remarks that the program will help young leaders understand the important policies and challenges of both nations. Remarks by Ms. Dana Heatherton, representative of the delegation, and a toast by Mr. Taichi Nagino, Senior Vice President of Mitsui USA, followed.

Around 50 people who are engaging in promoting the friendship between Japan and the US in Houston joined the reception and had a lively interaction with the delegation.
