September 12, Dallas/ Fort Worth Asian-American Citizens Council hosted their 15th Annual Banquet and Mr. Osamu Nagata, Chief Administrative Officer, Toyota Motor North America, Inc, delivered a keynote speech. Mr. Nagata explained the on-going progress of Toyota’s transfer of its headquarters to Plano and the creation of a projected 4,000 jobs, and referred to the advantages of the business climate in Texas.
In his remarks, Consul General Nozomu Takaoka welcomed the positive effects of Toyota’s new headquarters in Plano on the relation between Japan and Texas, and praised the council’s roles to promote the cooperation between all Asian Americans from various countries of origin on the opportunity of the 70th Anniversary of the end of the second world war (link). Approximately 300 people attended including State Senator Van Taylor, State Representative Angie Chen Button, State Representative Linda Koop, State Representative Jodie Laubenberg, Mayor Beth Van Duyne of Irving, Mayor Jim Pruitt of Rockwall, Mayor Douglas Athas of Garland, Mayor Paul Voelker of Richardson and the banquet ended successfully. |
