Reception to Celebrate Ms. Nancy Allen, Board Member of Asia Society Texas Center, Recipient of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation (October 15, 2015)

On October 15, Consul General Takaoka hosted a reception to celebrate Ms. Nancy Allen, Board Member of Asia Society Texas Center, who received  the prestigious Foreign Minister’s Commendation. She was presented with this award in recognition of her esteemed service in the promotion of the mutual understanding between Japan and the United States of America (Press Release).  

To open the ceremony, Consul General Takaoka praised Ms. Allen’s leadership with grace and generosity in building the Asia Society Texas Center, which became an architectural landmark in Houston, modern yet traditionally Japanese, and designed by Mr. Yoshio Taniguchi. He also appreciated the exciting activities of the Texas Center, promoting Japanese and Asian culture (link).

Receiving the commendation, in her speech, Ms. Allen shared her passion in building the Texas Center and supporting Japan-related projects. She also shared the experience of her first visit to Japan and stressed the importance of cultural diversity through promoting Asian culture.

Everyone attended admired Ms Allen’s achievements in promoting art in Houston and wished for future success of the Asia Society Texas Center.
