On December 13, Japanese American Citizen League in Houston (JACL) hosted a farewell dinner for Consul General Takaoka. 40 Asian leaders including Texas State Representative Gene Wu and Houston City Council Member Richard Nguyen, JACL President Gary Nakamura, President of Asia Chamber of Commerce in Houston Lynda Toyota and OCA-Greater Houston Cecil Fong, attended the dinner. Consul General Takaoka stated that he could spend a meaningful time in Houston as a Consul General during the period when the relationship between Japan and Houston has been strengthening. He also hoped that the Japanese American community continues to take a role in promoting the exchange between Japan and Houston, Texas, and the US. |
