Regarding the resumption of exemption from visa requirements for
Mexican nationals
Having taken the escalation of A/H1N1 Swine influenza in the United
Mexican States into consideration, the Government of Japan took the
decision to
temporarily suspend the visa exemption agreement for Mexican nationals from
28th of April.
The Japanese government, however, has resumed the visa exemption
agreement from 22nd of May, 2009.
Please note that it will henceforth not be necessary for Mexican
nationals planning to enter Japan for less than 6 months for the purpose of
short-term business, conference participation, tourism or to visit
friends/relatives (Ordinary passport holders corresponding to the visa
status ‘Temporary Visitor’) to obtain a Temporary Visitor visa at a
Japanese Embassy/Consulate abroad prior to departure (There will be no
changes in the entry requirements for those seeking to undertake paid employment in Japan).
The current visa exemption agreement will, also remain in force for
Mexican diplomatic and official passport holders wishing to enter Japan for
stays of not more than 6 months.
