The New Year Reception was held in Houston to honor the Japanese communities on January 30.The New Year Reception was held at the residence of the Consul-General of Japan in Houston on January 30, and was attended by many guests from the Japanese communities in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and other cities. Mr. Hiroo Matsumura, Committee Chair on the Japan Festival 2012, proposed a toast and expressed his resolute towards the successful holding of the festival “Thank you, Houston”. With remarks made by Astronaut Akihiko Hoside, having returned from the International Space Station, Professor Takeshi Udagawa, professor emeritus of the University of Texas, and Mr. Kyogo “Kurt” Onoue, President of the Business Association of San Antonio, all the attendants prayed for the safety and happiness throughout the year 2013.
