Reception for strengthening Japan-U.S. economic ties in Oklahoma

On June 29, the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston held a reception in Oklahoma City with the intention of strengthening Japan-U.S. economic ties. Politicians, business leaders, and those involved in Japan-U.S. exchange in Oklahoma were invited to the reception. Consul General Murabayashi expressed his wish for restarting exchange and strengthening relations between Japan and Oklahoma, which were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also introduced the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Japan in Tulsa, Mr. Dewey Bartlett, and the new president of Japan America Society of Oklahoma, Ms. Hiroka Thornton, as contact points of Japan in the state.
Political and business leaders, including the mayors of Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Stillwater attended the reception. The Mayor of Utsunomiya City in Tochigi Prefecture, Mr. Eiichi Sato sent a video message to reception attendees. Utsunomiya City and Tulsa will celebrate their 30th anniversary of the sister city relationship later this year.
