Consul General Murabayashi’s Meeting with McAllen Mayor Villalobos

       On September 23, Consul General Murabayashi met with the Mayor of McAllen, Mr. Javier Villalobos, during his official trip to the U.S.-Mexico border region in South Texas. Ten Japanese companies are operating across the border, with their offices in McAllen and factories in Mexico. These companies organize the Japan Chamber of Commerce in McAllen (JCCM). At the meeting, Mayor Villalobos noted McAllen’s rapid growth due to cross-border business done by many companies from various countries. He also stressed that illegal immigration routes from Mexico do not cross McAllen, and it is one of the safest cities in U.S.
