Consul General Murabayashi Meets with Norman Mayor Heikkila

On November 18, Consul General Murabayashi visited Norman, Oklahoma, and met with Mayor Larry Heikkila.
During the meeting, they exchanged opinions on the sister city relationship between City of Norman and Seika Town, Kyoto Prefecture, as well as economic relations between Japan and Norman City. Mayor Heikkila welcomed that the sister city exchange plays a major role in promoting multicultural understanding in the city. In addition, he also introduced a junior high school exchange program with Odawara City in Kanagawa Prefecture, and stated that he hopes to continue to value such exchanges.
In terms of the economy relation, Mayor Heikkia stated that Japanese companies located in Norman are leading the city's economy, and that he considers them important partners.
After the meeting, Consul General Murabayashi and Mayor Heikkila had a tour of the manufacturing plant and shipping base of Hitachi Computer Products (America), Inc. in Norman City.
