Consul General Murabayashi Meets with Richardson Mayor Voelker

On January 18, Consul General Murabayashi visited the City of Richardson, located in Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex of Northern Texas, and met with Mayor Paul Voelker.
The meeting focused mainly on economic and investment relations. Consul General Murabayashi submitted that Japanese companies are rapidly expanding their presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and increasing their investment in the region. Mayor Voelker highly praised the city’s role as a telecommunications industry hub and the fact that Japanese companies such as Fujitsu lead the region as key players. He mentioned the city’s efforts to foster entrepreneurs and develop new industries in cooperation with universities and local companies. He also discussed a memorandum of understanding signed last year between the State of the Texas and the Tokyo Metropolitan government to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and expressed his hope for increased Japanese investment, including the entry of Japanese SMEs with high technological capabilities to the region.
