Japanese National Day Reception 2024

On February 22, Consul General Murabayashi hosted the Japanese National Day Reception at his residence in celebration of the 64th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. The reception was attended by over 150 distinguished guests from across the consulate’s region of Texas and Oklahoma.
In the morning, Consul General Murabayashi held a flag-raising ceremony, followed by his remarks and reception.
The evening ceremony opened with a performance of the Japanese and the United States national anthems, followed by remarks from Consul General Murabayashi. He expressed gratitude to the guests for their support in strengthening the flourishing relations between Japan and the United States.
Mr. Peter Sakai, Bexar County Judge and third-generation Japanese American, offered remarks. Ms. Alice Chen, City of Stafford Council Member, presented Consul General Murabayashi with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol on behalf of Congressman Al Green.
Guests enjoyed Japanese food prepared by the official residence chef, as well as a seafood promotion booth with yellowtail and scallop dishes conceptualized by local Japanese chefs. Another booth highlighted the cultural sites and history of Nagasaki prefecture, alongside a sake-tasting table featuring eight different alcoholic beverages from various regions of Japan.
