On May 16, Consul General Naganuma offered words of encouragement to six high school students, who will visit Japan in June as part of the Naoko Shirane Foundation※ Exchange Program.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston is committed to supporting youth exchange programs between Japan and Texas.

※The Naoko Shirane Foundation was established to honor the legacy of late Naoko Mitsui Shirane (1926-2013), who served as Senior Adviser to the State of Texas and Director of the State of Texas Japan Office. With the aim of inspiring the next generation through international exchange, the foundation sends high school students from Texas to various cities in Japan including Kumamoto, the sister city of San Antonio.
