Tanabata, Star Festival, to be held July 7 at Children’s Museum of Houston

2017/6/14
Join us in celebrating Tanabata, the Star Festival, on July 7th from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Children’s Museum of Houston. The event is presented by the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston, the Children’s Museum of Houston, and the Japan-America Society of Houston.

Tanabata is a Japanese holiday based on the ancient folktale of Orihime and Hikoboshi, two stars separated by the milkyway who are permitted to meet only once a year. To mark this celebration, participants of all ages will make origami, decorate bamboo branches, and write wish cards called tanzaku.

Throughout the day special performances will highlight seasonal Japanese celebrations through dance and storytelling.
Visit the Children’s Museum on Friday, July 7th to celebrate Tanabata and learn more about Japan!
