On August 31, Consul General Fukushima attended the grand opening ceremony of Daiso Japan at Katy, Texas. In his congratulatory message, he expressed his expectation that Daiso will be recognized by the local community as a store that provides product which reflect Japanese meticulousness with reasonable price as well as with Japanese high quality standard.
There are now one thousand nine hundred ninety two Daiso stores in twenty six countries around the world, sixty seven in the United States, five in Dallas, and the first in the Houston area.
Many reporters, including ABC and Asian News, showed up to the event. The city of Houston also sent a congratulatory message. Consul-General Fukushima joined a ribbon cutting ceremony with Senior Vice President of Daiso and other VIP guests.
