Wednesday’s focus was on the traditional Japanese lunchboxes known as bento.  The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston hosted two workshops, allowing parents and children to build and appreciate a bento made from typical Japanese ingredients.  Ms. Keiko Tsubokura of the Grassroots Exchange Network – Japan (GEN-J) Program opened each workshop with a presentation describing the art of bento and the happy nostalgia many Japanese feel for their childhood lunches.
