2019/6/26
On June 12th, Consul-General Fukushima paid a courtesy call to Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

During their meeting, the Consul-General spoke about the current state of business relations, noting that Texas’ strong economy has been a growing source of interest among Japanese companies in recent years, leading them to invest in the state across a wide variety of industries, including energy, manufacturing, and technology. He elaborated that Japan has become the number one job creator among all countries with operations in Texas, and offered his thanks for the generous support provided by the state government as well as local businesses and communities.

Governor Abbott responded that he was proud to see such a high degree of collaboration between Texas and Japan, with so many first-class Japanese companies expanding operations in the state, and expressed his desire to promote even further cooperation in the future.

The Governor went on to say that he and his family greatly enjoyed visiting Japan for the first time in a private trip at the end of last year, and that he hoped to visit again in an official capacity in the near future to strengthen economic ties. He requested Consul-General Fukushima’s cooperation in planning such a trip, and the Consul-General gladly offered his full support in working with the Governor’s office toward that goal.
