On August 19th, Consul-General Fukushima was invited to participate in the “Japan America Friendship Night” for the Texas Rangers baseball team at their stadium in the suburbs of Dallas. This event, which is held almost every year, with the cooperation of the local Japan America Society, serves to promote friendly relations between the major league Texas Rangers team and local Japanese residents and businesses. People attending this year’s event had the opportunity to see the Rangers compete against the Los Angeles Angels, with their Japanese star player Shohei Otani.

At the opening ceremony before the game, Consul-General Fukushima had the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch on behalf of the area’s Japanese residents. A large number of people involved in US-Japan exchange in the region, including Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams, gathered for the event in seats reserved for special guests. Their passionate support helped lead the team to victory, as the Rangers won the game after 5 hours of intense competition!
