On August 28th, Consul-General Fukushima paid a courtesy call to Congressman Michael McCaul, where the two exchanged views on promoting friendship between the people of Japan and Texas, and strengthening the bilateral US-Japan alliance.
Congressman McCaul represents a large district that stretches from the state capital of Austin to the western suburbs of Houston. Many Japanese companies are actively expanding in the district and there is a growing community of people there with connections to Japan.
The Consul-General expressed his deep thanks to the Congressman for his many political and policy efforts in the legislature that have fostered a strong business environment.
Representative McCaul replied by praising the contributions the Japanese community have made to social and economic activity in the region, with Japanese business operations creating products and services that are “Made in America” by American workers.
Congressman McCaul, who has been a longtime leader in the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, also expressed his agreement with Consul-General Fukushima on the importance of the US-Japan alliance for promoting peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
