Consul-General Fukushima attended the 18th North & Central American Regional Conference of Ikebana International (October 28-30, 2019)

2019/11/9

Between October 28th and 30th, Consul-General and Madam Fukushima attended the 18th North & Central American Regional Conference of Ikebana International in Dallas as honorary chairs for the event.

Hundreds of ikebana masters and enthusiasts gathered from every corner of the United States, Japan, and other parts of the globe to take part in the conference’s exhibitions, workshops and lectures about the art of traditional Japanese flower arranging. Additionally, Mrs. Senko Ikenobo, the Headmaster Designate of the Ikenobo School, arrived from Kyoto to participate as a guest of honor, holding interactive demonstrations with participants, and exhibiting numerous gorgeous arrangements that made use of local Texas flowers, all with a sense of warmth and humor.

Ikebana has long been a source of pride for the people of Japan, as it has grown in popularity globally and become beloved people around the world. It is Consul-General Fukushima’s hope that the spirit of Ikebana International, as embodied by its motto of “friendship through flowers” has taken root in participants and will continue to bloom.
