On November 24th, Consul-General Fukushima took part in the Aki Matsuri Fall Festival hosted by the Fort Worth Japan Society. The festival, which draws many participants every year, was held in the Japanese Garden of the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens.
According to Bob Byers, the Director of the Botanic Gardens, the Japanese Garden has been beloved by the local community and city officials since its establishment 45 years ago, thanks to the efforts of local Japanese residents and Japanese-Americans among others who have seen to its upkeep.
The day of the festival was graced with pleasant autumn weather, and the seasonally colored maple leaves made a beautiful backdrop throughout the park as visitors enjoyed Japanese cultural activities, like calligraphy, dance, and the tea ceremony.
