On September 5th, Consul-General Fukushima was invited to a private event with Congressman Dan Crenshaw, who is in his first term representing his Houston-area district after winning last fall’s midterm election.
The event was hosted by Ms. Kei Ashizawa, the Texas Vice-Chair of the US-Japan Council, and was also attended by a number of Japanese executives whose companies are involved in the region’s energy sector.
Congressman Crenshaw praised LNG, which will soon begin to be exported from Texas to Japan, as a clean and inexpensive energy source, saying that it would be prudent to further expand its export into global markets.
Consul-General Fukushima asked the Congressman to consider visiting Japan in the near future with his wife, who had lived there for a period in her youth. Representative Crenshaw then expressed his support for continued cooperation between the two countries and the further strengthening of US-Japan relations.
