Consul-General Fukushima attended The International Festival USA Celebration of The United Nations World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

        On May 21, Consul-General Fukushima attended an event co-sponsored by the city of Houston and the United Nations General Assembly, the local International Festival USA. He celebrated the “World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development” as part of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with the attendees.

       Consul-General Fukushima praised Houston's racial diversity in the United States, which drives growth and breakthroughs. Also, he expressed his deep gratitude to the region for warmly embracing the Japanese and Japanese American communities. Furthermore, he welcomed the recent passing of anti-Asian hate crime legislation by the federal government, and emphasized that working across differences in culture and beliefs through mutual understanding and further cohesion will lead to regional resilience.
