2022/2/5

On January 26, Consul General Murabayashi paid a courtesy call to the Mayor of Austin, Mr. Steve Adler. At the meeting, Mayor Adler commented on the sister city relationship between Austin and Oita City, including the exchange of runners from each region who participated in the Austin Marathon and in the Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon.
Consul General Murabayashi mentioned that Austin has become famous in Japan due to Tesla’s decision to relocate its headquarters there, and added that Japanese companies are expected to invest more in the city in the near future. Mayor Adler stressed that Austin has grown rapidly in recent years because it has been the easiest place in Texas to start up a new company, and added that the city government is working to create an even better investment climate and greater infrastructure to keep up with this rapid growth.
