Consul General Murabayashi Greeted New Houston Mayor Whitmire

 On February 9, Consul General Murabayashi met with new Houston Mayor John Whitmire and congratulated him on his assumption of the Mayor's position on the occasion of the GHP (Greater Houston Partnership) Annual Meeting. Mayor Whitmire expressed his desire to further strengthen the relations with Japan and to visit Japan. Consul General Murabayashi and Mayor Whitmire had known each other when Mayor Whitmire was a State Senator, but their first meeting since Mayor Whitmire assumed his position was made possible as Consul General was invited to the GHP Annual Meeting when he met with the new GHP President & CEO Steve Kean on February 8.
 Consul General and Mrs. Murabayashi also met with Mayor Whitmire, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher and many other elected officials on the occasion of Lunar New Year Festival held in Chinatown on February 10.
