On January 31, the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston hosted a reception at the official residence of the Consul General to bolster economic relations between Japan and Texas, while welcoming a delegation of six Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises visiting Texas under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Interregional Economic Exchange Program. In attendance were representatives from the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, Waller County Economic Development Partnership, Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth, Japan-America Society of Houston, JETRO Houston, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center.

Consul General Naganuma opened the meeting by outlining support the consulate-general provided to Japanese businesses in Texas last year. He underscored the importance of grassroots economic exchange as a cornerstone of the strong Japan-U.S. relationship, and emphasized that the consulate-general is fully committed to supporting any future investment in Texas by the participating companies. Representatives of the six companies then presented on their businesses and future trade and investment plans in Texas, and participants discussed strategies to enhance economic exchange between Tokyo and Texas.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston will continue to support investment and other business initiatives of Japanese companies in Texas.
