Condolence message regarding the Central Texas floods

On behalf of the government and people of Japan, the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston offers its sincere condolences to those impacted by the tragic July 4 floods in Central Texas.

As a nation that frequently experiences natural disasters, Japan shares in the grief felt across Texas and the United States in this moment. Our thoughts are with the communities experiencing unimaginable loss as a result of this disaster. We hope and believe that Texas, with its great strength and resilience, will overcome this tragedy and recover from it soon. 

Message of condolences from Prime Minister Ishiba

On July 6, regarding the devastating damages caused by the floods in Texas of the United States of America, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, delivered the following message of condolences to the Honorable Donald. J. Trump, President of the United States of America.

“I am deeply shocked to learn of a tragic loss of lives caused by the floods in Texas, United States of America. On behalf of the Government and the people of Japan, I extend my most heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and to the people of the United States during this difficult time and offer my sincere hopes for the safe return of those still missing.

Message of condolences from Foreign Minister Iwaya

On July 6th, regarding the devastating damages caused by the floods in Texas of the United States of America, Foreign Minister IWAYA Takeshi sent the following message of condolences and sympathies to the Honorable Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States of America.

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the devastating floods in Texas, United States, which have resulted in a tragic loss of lives and left many still unaccounted for.
