On October 15, 2025, Consul General Naganuma attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Miyako Hybrid Hotel Plano in Plano.

The hotel is planned as a 12-story building with about 220 rooms, and completion is scheduled for fall of 2027. Approximately 100 attendees were present at the groundbreaking ceremony, including local political and business leaders such as Plano Mayor John Muns and Texas State Senator Angela Paxton, as well as Mr. Wakai, President and CEO of Kintetsu Group Holdings, Inc.

Mayor Muns praised the Japanese companies' contribution to the local community and commended the hotel's construction as a symbol of the friendship between Texas and Japan. Senator Paxton issued the Certificate of Congratulations, highlighting the project's significant anticipated economic ripple effects through synergies in tourism, job creation, and other areas.

Consul General Naganuma stated that amid advancing Japan-U.S. economic relations, the construction of the Miyako Hybrid Hotel in the rapidly developing North Texas region is highly timely. He also expressed his firm belief that the hotel will contribute significantly to further developing the economic ties between Japan and North Texas, as well as promoting Japan's spirit of “omotenashi (hospitality).”

The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston will continue to support the activities of Japanese companies in Texas.
