On October 31, Consul General Naganuma attended the 50th anniversary celebration of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) Houston Chapter held in Houston. The event was attended by U.S. Congressman Al Green, Texas State Representative Gene Wu, Texas State Representative Jon Rosenthal and JACL National President Larry Oda. At that time, Congressman Al Green presented the JACL Houston Chapter with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition.
Congressman Al Green, State Representative Gene Wu of Texas, and Bear County Administrator Peter Sakai offered words of encouragement to the JACL.
In his remarks, Consul General Naganuma offered congratulations to the JACL Houston Chapter on its 50th anniversary, which coincides with the significant milestone of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. He also expressed respect for the U.S. government's sincere efforts after the war to address the issue of the internment of Japanese Americans after the war and praised the contributions made by the JACL in deepening the alliance between Japan and the United States.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston will continue to support the activities of the Japanese American community.
