On February 6, Consul-General Naganuma welcomed a delegation visiting Texas as part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's inter-regional economic exchange program with representatives from the four Tokyo-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – Nagatsu Precision Mold Co., Ltd.; Ohtama Co., Ltd.; SAKE Generation; and Seidensha Electronics Co., Ltd. Also in attendance were representatives from the four Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center, and Lawrence Howorth, President of HOWORTH International, LLC, which supports the programs implementation in Texas.

At the meeting’s outset, Consul-General Naganuma emphasized that grassroots economic exchange forms the foundation of strong Japan-U.S. relations and that the consulate would offer its full support should the participating companies choose to invest in Texas. Representatives from the companies then outlined their respective business activities, and attendees discussed ways to promote the each company’s expansion into the Texas market.

Consul-General Naganuma also highlighted the Japan-Texas Economic Summit set to be held in May. He expressed confidence that initiatives such as the Tokyo SME delegation and the upcoming summit would further strengthen economic ties between Japan and Texas.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston will continue to support the activities of Japanese companies, including investment in Texas and Oklahoma.
