Performers, organizers, and guests
On February 13th, Consul General Naganuma attended a performance by EXTRAD, Japanese Noh & Kyogen Theatre at UNITYFest 2026 in San Antonio. Organized by Musical Bridges Around the World, UNITYFest seeks to bring people from diverse cultural backgrounds together and to unite communities. The theater group EXTRAD practices the Japanese stage tradition of Nohgaku, which combines the drama of Noh with the humor of Kyogen, introducing Japanese theater to international audiences and to new generations within Japan.
Following welcoming remarks from Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai, Consul General Naganuma expressed his wish that EXTRAD’s performance would further enrich San Antonio’s vibrant culture. The performance was held in order for Japan and the U.S. to jointly commemorate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence.
The Consulate General of Japan in Houston will continue to promote Japanese theater and art traditions in cooperation with cultural organizations.
