Congratulatory Message from Texas State Representative Charles Cunningham
On February 19, the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston held a reception to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor's 66th birthday. The reception was attended by Houston Mayor Whitmire and Texas State Representative Charles Cunningham, along with guests from throughout the consulate’s jurisdiction of Texas and Oklahoma. Guests included representatives from the Texas state legislature, local governments, business leaders, those with deep connections to Japan, and Japanese astronauts, making for a grand event. Congratulatory messages were sent by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, U.S. Senator John Cornyn, U.S. Representative Wesley Hunt, and others.
Following the Japanese and American national anthems, Consul General Naganuma spoke about the long-standing friendly relations between Japan and the United States, economic friendship, and the development of cooperation in the space industry. He also highlighted many activities run by Japan-related organizations and expressed his gratitude to the invited guests for their contributions to the development of friendly relations between Japan and the United States.
The event featured demonstrations of Fujiseiki company’s “Onigiri Robot,” and the introduction of Japanese local governments, sake, and sweets by the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR). JAXA and JETRO also introduced their projects.
