From March 12 to 13, Consul General Naganuma attended SXSW-related events in Austin.
On March 12, Consul General Naganuma attended the SXSW Cocktail Reception & Tech Innovation Dinner hosted by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. During the reception at the Governor’s Mansion, Consul General Naganuma exchanged views with Texas Governor Greg Abbott on the economic relationship between Japan and Texas. He also expressed gratitude for the Governor's visit to Japan in 2024, to which the Governor stated his desire to visit Japan again. At the reception, Consul General Naganuma also exchanged views with Secretary of State Jane Nelson and Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of Economic Development and Tourism.
On March 13, Consul General Naganuma attended the 2026 SXSW International Welcome Breakfast, co-hosted by the City of Austin and Austin International Sister Cities. At this event, he exchanged views on the friendly relations between Japan and the City of Austin with U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett, Austin Mayor Kirk Watson, and others.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston will continue to contribute to the development of economic and friendly relations between Japan and Texas.
