The Consulate‑General of Japan in Houston is seeking to hire an Administrative Staff member (Accounting & General Affairs) as outlined below.
- Position Title:
Administrative Staff (Accounting & General Affairs) - Salary:
To be determined based on qualifications and experience - Employment Status:
Full‑time, nonexempt permanent position
(A three‑month probationary period applies) - Working Hours:
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
(Lunch break: 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
Overtime may be required. - Work Location:
Consulate‑General of Japan in Houston

Houston, TX 77010 - Benefits:

c. Paid holidays (City of Houston and U.S. federal holidays, as well as selected Japanese holidays)
- Assisting with procedures related to official bank accounts and payments
- Preparing required documentation for the shipment and receipt of diplomatic cargo, and coordinating with relevant authorities, including the U.S. Department of State
- Assisting with procedures related to the arrival and departure of staff members
(e.g., opening/closing personal bank accounts, ID issuance, hotel, rental car, and housing arrangements) - Other administrative support duties as assigned
(Limited to several days per year in connection with large‑scale events)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to work full‑time on site (no remote work) and to work overtime as needed
- Fluent in both Japanese and English
- Strong sense of responsibility, teamwork skills, and communication abilities
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet use, and e‑mail
