Consul-General Fukushima hosted a welcome dinner and reception for the honorable Takuya Hattori, Deputy Mayor of Chiba City (July 17, 2019)

On July 17th, Consul-General Fukushima welcomed Chiba City’s Deputy Mayor Takuya Hattori to his official residence, where he hosted a dinner reception with members of the Japan-America Society of Houston and the local River Oaks Baptist School. The cities of Chiba and Houston have been sister cities for 47 years, and the main purpose of Deputy Mayor Hattori’s visit Houston was to attend the 2019 Annual Conference of Sister Cities International.
Students from the River Oaks Baptist School gave their warm welcomes to the middle school students visiting from Chiba City. The families of the River Oaks Baptist School students kindly shared their homes with the students from Chiba, providing them with a homestay experience. At the reception, words of gratitude were shared regarding the deepening bonds between the citizens of the two cities, which are exemplified by this sort of exchange. The Deputy Mayor expressed his desire for the cities of Houston and Chiba to develop an even stronger relationship in the future.
