国際交流基金海外公演「Hogaku: New Sounds of Japan」邦楽コンサートでの挨拶 2009年1月14日

在ヒューストン日本国総領事 大澤勉

Ladies and gentlemen, members of Asia Society and the Museum of Fine arts, Houston: Good Evening. On behalf of the Japan Foundation and the Consulate-General of Japan, I would like to welcome you to this evening’s event “Hogaku: New Sounds of Japan 2009.”

The Japan Foundation selected Houston and New York City for this exclusive showing of Japanese culture because our two cities are thriving international cities. Both have strong interests in Asian Art, Japanese culture and music. Both are home to Asia Societies and have world-class museums featuring timeless Asian collections. Looking around at the audience tonight, it is obviously true: Houston is excited about Asian Art.

I am honored to have Mr. Tanaka and these talented performers visit and share their craft with us tonight. Please sit back and enjoy this rare opportunity that we are all fortunate to experience tonight.
